Filipinos Are Not That Dumb

If you think Filipinos are so dumb that they cheat when taking the nursing licensure exam, watch this video to uplift your low esteem of the Pinoy.
The Australian comedy group called “The Chaser” shot this video in US streets. Ordinary citizens gave their “brightest” answers to simple questions like “What are Nagasaki and Hiroshima famous for?”, “Who is Tony Blair?” and many others. Their witless answers made my 10-year old Adrian blush. I’m sure the respondents’ intelligence level will also turn you crimson—from embarrassment and from laughing hard.
Filipinos should stop the national self-flogging every time studies and surveys show how Pinoy students lag behind other nationalities in academic excellence. This video will show you that somewhere around the world, even in first world countries like the US, they have dummies who are dumber than our home-grown dummies.

The Americans are ignorant about anything outside of their borders. They have myopic vision however they aren’t dumb in terms of intelligence. They are blinded by patriotism but when it comes to science, math, economics, IT, they do very well. However I have had great difficulty working with Filipinos. Very nice people, amenable, friendly and pleasant. Excuse my racism but unfortunately dumb as a bag of hammers. I have worked with Filipinos with Master’s degrees in Finance who can’t do a basic cash flow forecast or determine net present value or internal rate of return. These are concepts one should master in an MBA or Master’s degree in Finance. I have tried to teach financial models to Filipinos but they seem unable to pick it up. I have also sent them for training at the local University to learn these concept but to no avail. Again I do apologise I know it sounds so racist but these are my experiences
No need to be so apologetic. I don’t think you’re being racist just because you have a low regard for the Filipino’s intelligence. Intellectual snobbery maybe, but not racism. And I said that not as an insult, but as an attempt at “cold reading”, John Edward style.
As a Filipino, I must admit sheepishly that your statement “I have worked with Filipinos with Master’s degrees in Finance who can’t do a basic cash flow forecast” contains an awful truth. Technocrats with MBA-studded resumé run our government bureaucracy, churning ream upon ream of grandiose economic plans year after year over several decades with no palpable impact on the economic condition of the masses. The Philippines is still stuck in poverty.
I think it’s a waste of natural resources cutting all those trees to harvest the reams of paper to write their economic plans on and to show very little results except for the successful deforestation of our forested areas. But that’s another story.
Best regards.
